Blockchain▼
A distributed digital ledger that records transactions in linked, immutable blocks — shared across thousands of computers with no single point of control

A blockchain is a chain of data blocks, each containing a batch of verified transactions. Every block is cryptographically linked to the one before it, making tampering with any historical record practically impossible. Once a block is confirmed, it cannot be altered without changing every block that follows — a task requiring more computational power than the entire network combined. Bitcoin was the first blockchain. Ethereum made blockchains programmable. In 2026, blockchains power everything from stablecoins to tokenized U.S. Treasury bills.

Bitcoin (BTC) ASSET▼
The world's first and largest cryptocurrency by market cap — a fixed-supply, decentralised digital currency with a hard cap of 21 million coins.

Created in 2009 by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin is a peer-to-peer electronic cash system that operates without any central authority. Its supply is mathematically capped at 21 million coins — over 20 million have already been mined. Bitcoin uses a proof-of-work consensus mechanism where miners compete to add blocks and earn newly created BTC as rewards. Widely held as digital gold, Bitcoin is the first asset to be included in a U.S. Strategic Reserve and is increasingly described as a geopolitical hedge in institutional portfolios.

DeFi (Decentralised Finance) ECOSYSTEM▼
A system of financial services — lending, borrowing, trading, yield earning — built on smart contracts and blockchain, operating without banks or intermediaries.

DeFi recreates traditional financial services on public blockchains using smart contracts. Decentralised exchanges like Uniswap allow anyone to swap tokens without a broker. Lending protocols like Aave allow anyone to lend or borrow without a credit check. Yield aggregators automatically move funds between protocols to maximise returns. Total DeFi TVL reached $130–140 billion in March 2026. The ecosystem processes billions of dollars daily, serves users in 180+ countries, and is increasingly processing institutional capital from regulated financial firms.

Gas Fee TECHNOLOGY▼
The fee paid in ETH to compensate Ethereum validators for processing your transaction — higher during network congestion, lower during quiet periods.

Every computation on Ethereum costs gas — units of computational work. The total fee equals gas used multiplied by the gas price, denominated in gwei (1 billionth of an ETH). Fees are higher when many users compete to transact simultaneously, because they are bid up in an auction for block space. The EIP-1559 upgrade in 2021 introduced a base fee that is burned, reducing ETH supply, plus an optional tip for validators. Layer 2 networks like Arbitrum and Base reduce gas fees to fractions of a cent by processing transactions off Ethereum's mainnet

NFT (Non-Fungible Token) ASSET▼
A unique blockchain token that proves ownership and authenticity of a specific digital item — art, collectible, music, real estate deed, or any other asset.

Unlike fungible tokens where every unit is identical (one Bitcoin equals every other Bitcoin), an NFT is unique — each token has distinct properties and a specific owner recorded on the blockchain. NFTs use smart contracts to define ownership, enable transfers, and pay royalties to creators on secondary sales. They peaked in cultural visibility during 2021–2022, creating multibillion-dollar markets for digital art. In 2026, NFTs have evolved beyond collectibles into practical applications: property deed records, event tickets, intellectual property licenses, loyalty programs, and identity credentials. The SEC's token taxonomy formally classified NFTs as non-securities in March 2026.

Private Key SECURITY▼
A unique cryptographic code — like an extremely long password — that proves ownership of a crypto address and authorises transactions from it.

A private key is a 256-bit number, typically displayed as a 64-character hexadecimal string. It is mathematically paired with a public key — your wallet address. The private key is used to create digital signatures on transactions, proving that the transaction was authorised by the address owner without revealing the key itself. Anyone with your private key has complete control of your funds. Modern wallets derive private keys from seed phrases so users never need to handle the key directly, but the underlying cryptography is what makes self-custody both secure and irreversible.

Seed Phrase SECURITY▼
A sequence of 12 or 24 random words that acts as the master key to your entire crypto wallet — anyone who has it can access all your funds from any device.

When you set up a crypto wallet, it generates a seed phrase: 12 or 24 randomly selected words in a specific order. This phrase is the mathematical root from which all your private keys are derived. It is the only backup that can recover your wallet if your device is lost or damaged. Write it down on paper, store it securely offline, and never share it with anyone. No legitimate service, exchange, or support team will ever ask for your seed phrase. Losing it means permanently losing access to your funds.

Smart Contract TECHNOLOGY▼
Self-executing code stored on a blockchain that automatically enforces the terms of an agreement when predefined conditions are met — no intermediary required.

A smart contract is a program that lives on the blockchain and executes automatically when its conditions are satisfied. There is no human operator, no company that can refuse to honour it, and no business hours — it runs exactly as written, for anyone, at any time. Smart contracts power DeFi protocols, stablecoin systems, NFT marketplaces, prediction markets, and tokenized asset platforms. The term was coined by computer scientist Nick Szabo in 1994, decades before the technology to implement it existed.

Stablecoin ASSET▼
A cryptocurrency pegged to a stable asset — typically the U.S. dollar — designed to maintain a constant value while retaining blockchain's speed and programmability.

Stablecoins solve crypto's volatility problem by pegging their value to a reference asset, most commonly the U.S. dollar. Fiat-backed stablecoins like USDC and USDT hold dollar reserves for every token in circulation. Algorithmic stablecoins attempt to maintain their peg through code-enforced supply adjustments. In 2026, the stablecoin market cap exceeded $308 billion, with over 232 million holders globally. The GENIUS Act established the first U.S. federal framework for stablecoin issuers, requiring one-to-one reserve backing and monthly disclosures.

Wallet TOOL▼
A software or hardware tool that stores your private keys — the cryptographic proof of ownership that allows you to send and receive crypto assets.

A crypto wallet does not store coins — those live on the blockchain. It stores your private key: the unique cryptographic password that proves you have the right to move coins at a specific address. Hot wallets (MetaMask, Trust Wallet) are software-based and internet-connected — convenient but vulnerable to online attacks. Cold wallets (Ledger, Trezor) store keys on a physical device never connected to the internet — the most secure option for significant holdings. The cardinal rule: not your keys, not your coins.

Cardano Foundation's Reeve 1.8 Brings Project Lifecycle Tracking to Blockchain-Based Accounts

Cardano Foundation's Reeve 1.8 adds project lifecycle tools and better spending tracking to its on-chain financial reporting platform. Here is what changed.

The Cardano Foundation has released Reeve 1.8, a new version of its open-source platform for recording company finances on the Cardano blockchain. The update focuses on how organisations manage and track spending on projects. It adds better tools for handling projects, sub-projects and milestones throughout their lifecycle, from creating and editing them to locking and deleting them. Version 1.8.0 was tagged on Reeve's public GitHub repositories on 22 October 2026.

Key Facts:

  • What it is: Reeve is the Cardano Foundation's open-source platform for publishing tamper-proof, verifiable financial records on the Cardano blockchain.
  • What is new: Version 1.8 improves project lifecycle management and tracking of project funding and spending.
  • When: Version 1.8.0 was tagged on GitHub on 22 October 2026.
  • How it fits in: Reeve connects to an organisation's existing accounting and ERP systems rather than replacing them.
  • Who controls the data: Organisations decide what information is shared and with whom.
  • Real-world use: The Cardano Foundation has used Reeve to publish its annual financial report on-chain for two years in a row, with Grant Thornton Switzerland attesting the statements on-chain.
  • Open source: The code is publicly available on GitHub for anyone to review or build on.
  • What Is New in Reeve 1.8

    Most of the changes in version 1.8 are in Reeve's project spending features, the part of the platform that tracks money raised and spent on specific projects. Based on the changes published in Reeve's code repositories, the update brings:

  • Full project lifecycle tools. Teams can now update and delete projects, not just create them.
  • Permanent project IDs. Each project, sub-project and milestone gets a fixed identifier, so its title can be renamed without breaking its history.
  • Locking and clearer status. Individual projects and milestones can be locked, and each item has a more detailed status. The currency of a project can also be locked once it is set.
  • Multiple currencies. Sub-projects and milestones can use different currencies from each other.
  • Safer CSV imports. When funding data is uploaded from a spreadsheet, Reeve now matches existing projects, sub-projects and milestones by their ID only, never by their title. This avoids accidentally linking money to the wrong project.
  • Warnings before edits. Reeve now shows a warning when projects are being edited through a CSV import.
  • More detailed records. Funding, refund and spending events now carry fuller details, and a bug that wrongly grouped unrelated spending events during uploads has been fixed.
  • In simple terms, organisations can now follow a project's money from start to finish more accurately, with fewer chances of mistakes when data is imported or changed.

    What Reeve Does

  • Records financial data on-chain. Key financial records are written to the Cardano blockchain, where they cannot be changed once recorded.
  • Makes records verifiable. Anyone with access can independently check the data, without relying on a company's own servers.
  • Works with existing systems. Reeve connects to ERP and accounting software, so organisations keep their usual tools.
  • Keeps sensitive data private. Organisations choose what to make public and what to share only with specific parties.
  • Supports auditors. Auditors get direct, permanent access to verifiable data and can attest to financial information on-chain, instead of sending manual confirmation requests.
  • How It Works, Explained Simply

    Think of Reeve as a public notary for a company's accounts. The company keeps doing its bookkeeping as usual. Reeve takes key records, such as transactions or report figures, and stamps them onto the Cardano blockchain. Once stamped, they cannot be quietly changed later.

    When an auditor or investor wants to check the numbers, they do not have to take the company's word for it. They can compare the company's figures with the record on the blockchain and see that nothing has been altered. Reeve can also link these records to a verified organisational identity, so readers can confirm who published them.

    How the Cardano Foundation Uses Reeve

  • On-chain annual reports. On 2 April 2026, the Foundation published its 2025 Activity and Financial Insights Report on-chain using Reeve. It was the second year in a row it did so.
  • On-chain audit attestation. Grant Thornton Switzerland attested the Foundation's financial statements on-chain. The Foundation said this was the second time the audit firm had partnered with it on on-chain attestation.
  • Verified identities. In a pilot with Grant Thornton, transactions recorded through Reeve were linked to verified legal entity identifiers, connecting the on-chain data to the Foundation's organisational identity.
  • Pascal Furger, Partner at Grant Thornton Switzerland/Liechtenstein, said the pilot "shows that blockchain-based financial reporting can effectively align with formal audit requirements."

    Who Reeve Is For

    According to the Reeve website, the platform is aimed at:

  • Enterprises that want stronger internal controls and accountability to stakeholders.
  • NGOs that need to show donors and regulators how money is used.
  • Audit firms that want reliable, verifiable financial records.
  • Government agencies focused on oversight, compliance and fraud prevention.
  • Example uses include financial reporting, investor statements, operational disclosures and confirming dealings between related parties.

    Reeve Timeline

  • 2025: The Cardano Foundation publishes its 2024 Financial Insights Report on-chain, its first annual report recorded this way.
  • 8 July 2025: The Foundation formally presents Reeve as an enterprise-grade financial data platform built on Cardano, designed to connect existing ERP systems to the blockchain.
  • 2 April 2026: The Foundation publishes its 2025 Activity and Financial Insights Report on-chain using Reeve, with Grant Thornton Switzerland attesting the financial statements on-chain.
  • 22 October 2026: Reeve version 1.8.0 is tagged on GitHub, adding project lifecycle and spending-tracking improvements.
  • Each step has moved Reeve from an internal experiment toward a tool that other organisations could use for their own reporting.

    Table of key facts on Cardano Foundation’s Reeve 1.8, tagged on 22 October 2026, focused on project lifecycle and spending tracking.

    CoinTulip Analysis

    The views in this section are CoinTulip's own analysis, separate from the reported facts above.

    A practical use for blockchain

    Much of the crypto industry focuses on trading and speculation. Reeve is a different kind of project. It uses a blockchain for something ordinary but important: proving that financial records have not been changed. Version 1.8 does not add flashy features. It makes the tool more reliable for day-to-day work, which is what organisations need before they trust it with real accounts.

    Why project tracking matters

    Grant-funded organisations, NGOs and foundations often need to show exactly how money was spent on each project. Errors such as linking funds to the wrong project, or losing track after a project is renamed, can undermine trust. Permanent IDs, locking and ID-only matching address these everyday problems directly.

    The adoption challenge

    So far, the clearest example of Reeve in use is the Cardano Foundation itself. The bigger test is whether other companies, charities and public bodies adopt it. Many organisations are cautious about putting financial data on a public blockchain, even with privacy controls. The involvement of a recognised audit firm like Grant Thornton helps, but wider use will depend on cost, ease of setup and acceptance by regulators.

    What it means for Cardano

    Real-world tools like Reeve give the Cardano network a use beyond trading. If more organisations publish verified records on Cardano, it could support steady, practical demand for the network. For now, Reeve is an early but credible step toward blockchain-based financial accountability.

    1. Who we are

    CoinTulip is the publishing brand of COINTULIP MEDIA PRIVATE LIMITED, a company incorporated in India ("we", "us", or "our"). We publish news and information at cointulip.com.

    We determine the purpose and means of processing personal data on this site and related services. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 that role is called the Data Fiduciary. We use the term so this policy stays consistent as the Act's operative provisions come into force.

    The Government has brought the DPDP Act and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 into force in phases. Institutional and definitional provisions are already in force. Most substantive obligations and rights — including notice, consent, legitimate uses, security and breach duties, children's data rules, principal rights, and cross-border restrictions — are scheduled for the later commencement phase (18 months from the 13 November 2025 notification, expected from 13 May 2027). We follow this policy now, and we will comply with those provisions to the extent they apply and as they come into force.

    We will never ask for your wallet seed phrase, private keys, banking passwords, OTPs, or card details. Anyone asking for these while claiming to be CoinTulip is not us.

    2. Information we collect

    • respond to support, advertising, privacy, legal, and grievance requests;
    • comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Use.

    5. Cookies

    The site uses cookies and similar technologies.

    • Essential cookies — needed for the site to work and remain secure. These run automatically.
    • Analytics — we use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read, roughly where readers come from, and how the site performs. This runs when you visit the site. You can block it in your browser settings or use Google's Analytics opt-out.
    • Advertising — a Google AdSense tag may be present on the site. Ads are not currently being shown. If Google approves the account and advertising starts, we will update this section. If advertising starts, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to show ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info.

    Google Analytics is a Google service. Data about how you use this site can be processed by Google as described in Google's Analytics privacy information. You can also use Google Ads Settings to limit personalised advertising across Google.

    6. Your rights and requests

    You can ask us to:

    • tell you what personal data we hold about you and what we use it for;
    • correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data;
    • delete data we no longer need, unless we must keep it to comply with law;
    • stop a newsletter or other consent-based processing;
    • note a person you nominate to deal with your data if you die or cannot act.

    To make a request, email privacy@cointulip.com and include the email address or other identifier we would use to find your data (for example, the address used to subscribe).

    You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any newsletter email.

    When the DPDP Act's rights provisions come into force, those statutory rights — including access, correction, erasure, withdrawal of consent, nomination, and grievance redressal — will apply as written in the Act, and we will honour them. Until then, we handle the requests above as a matter of this policy.

    If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom, or California and those laws apply to you, you may have additional rights, such as data portability and the right to object to marketing. We do not sell personal information for money, although using advertising or analytics partners may count as "sharing" under some of those laws. This paragraph does not mean we are established in those places or that those statutes always apply.

    7. Third-party services and transfers

    We use service providers to run CoinTulip. They include:

    • market-data providers (including CoinGecko and Binance);
    • Google Analytics and advertising partners;
    • hosting and content-delivery providers;
    • email / newsletter providers.

    Each has its own privacy policy. Some handle data only on our instructions. Some process data for their own purposes under their own policies. We remain responsible for personal data we ask a provider to handle for us.

    Some of these providers are located outside India, so your data may be processed in other countries. The DPDP Act does not ban international transfers as a general rule. When section 16 and the related transfer rule come into force, the Central Government may restrict transfers to specified countries. We will not transfer personal data to a country or territory that is restricted under those provisions once they apply.

    8. Retention

    We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law.

    As a working guide:

    • Newsletter email — until you unsubscribe, then a short suppression record so we do not email you again by mistake;
    • Support, privacy, and grievance emails — as long as needed to handle the request and keep a record of it;
    • Server and security logs — for a limited period needed for security and fault diagnosis;
    • Analytics data — for the period configured in Google Analytics, or until you block Analytics in your browser or through Google's opt-out.

    When we no longer need the data for those purposes, we delete it and ask our providers to delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it.

    9. Security and personal data incidents

    We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including access control, encrypted transport (HTTPS), backups, and vendor contracts. No website can be completely secure.

    If a personal data incident occurs, we will investigate it, contain it, and inform affected people where that is appropriate. When the DPDP Act's breach-intimation duty and Rule 7 of the 2025 Rules come into force, we will also intimate the Data Protection Board of India without delay and give the Board the prescribed particulars within the then-applicable timeline (the Rules currently provide for detailed particulars within 72 hours of becoming aware, or any longer period the Board allows), and we will inform affected individuals as those provisions require. Until that duty is in force, the 72-hour Board timeline is a readiness target, not a currently operative statutory deadline.

    10. Children

    CoinTulip is a general-audience website and is not directed specifically at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18, and we do not use tracking or targeted advertising directed at children.

    If you believe we have collected personal data from a person under 18, email privacy@cointulip.com and we will delete it.

    The DPDP Act defines a child as a person under 18. The Act's specific rules on processing children's data are scheduled for the later commencement phase. The commitments in this section are our current practice, and we will follow those statutory rules when they come into force.

    11. Changes to this policy

    We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and we will highlight significant changes on the site. Where a change requires a fresh opt-in, we will ask for it.

    12. Contact

    For privacy and data requests — including access, correction, deletion, unsubscribe, or nomination — email privacy@cointulip.com.

    That mailbox is also the contact for questions about how we handle personal data.

    13. Content grievances (IT Rules, 2021)

    If CoinTulip is treated as a publisher of news and current affairs content under Part III of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, complaints about published content follow that framework, not the DPDP Act.

    Part III uses a three-tier structure:

    • Level I — self-regulation by the publisher, through the Grievance Officer below;

    Email: grievance@cointulip.com

    Please mark the subject as a personal-data grievance so we do not treat it as a content complaint.

    We aim to acknowledge it promptly, usually within 24 hours, and to resolve it within 15 days. Some matters may take longer, and if so we will let you know. This is our internal process. When the DPDP Act's grievance and Board-complaint provisions come into force, you will also be able to complain to the Data Protection Board of India after using our mechanism, as those provisions require.

    Terms of Use

    Last updated: 23 September 2026  ·  Effective: immediately

    Please read carefully before using CoinTulip.

    1. Who we are and how these Terms work

    CoinTulip is the publishing brand of COINTULIP MEDIA PRIVATE LIMITED, a company incorporated in India ("we", "us", or "our"). These Terms of Use ("Terms") explain the rules for using cointulip.com and related pages (the "Site").

    By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

    How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy. Content complaints and personal-data grievances follow the process in that policy, including the Grievance Officer at grievance@cointulip.com.

    2. What CoinTulip is — and is not

    CoinTulip publishes news, explainers, and market information about crypto, fintech, and related topics.

    We are not a broker, exchange, wallet, custodian, or investment adviser. We do not run trades, hold crypto, or open accounts for you. We will never ask for your seed phrase, private keys, OTPs, banking passwords, or card details. Anyone asking for those while claiming to be CoinTulip is not us.

    If you click through to an exchange, wallet, or other platform, you leave our Site. That platform's own terms and privacy policy apply there.

    3. No financial advice

    Everything on the Site — including articles, prices, charts, and research — is for information and learning only.

    Nothing on the Site is financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. Nothing on the Site is an offer to buy or sell any asset. Crypto and other market products can go down as well as up, and you can lose money. Please do your own research. If you need advice, speak to a qualified professional who is allowed to advise you.

    4. Using the Site

    Please use the Site in a fair and lawful way. You agree not to:

    • use the Site for anything illegal;
    • try to break into the Site or the systems behind it;
    • send anything harmful or meant to disrupt the Site;
    • scrape, crawl, or copy the Site in a systematic way, or use our content to train AI models, without our prior written permission;
    • pretend to be CoinTulip, our team, or another person.

    You may open our pages, read them, and share links to our articles with credit to CoinTulip.

    5. Our content

    Articles, graphics, logos, charts, source code, and the way the Site is built belong to COINTULIP MEDIA PRIVATE LIMITED or to the partners who gave us permission to use them. They are protected by copyright and other laws.

    You may not copy, republish, or reuse that material as your own without our written permission, except for ordinary sharing of links as set out above, or where the law allows.

    6. Sponsored and partner content

    Some articles and boxes are paid or partner content. We mark those with a "Sponsored" label.

    Sponsored pieces are not our editorial voice. Our newsroom is not required to agree with a sponsor. Labelling a piece as sponsored does not mean we have checked the sponsor's product or that we recommend it.

    Sponsored content about crypto products carries the disclaimer required by ASCI's guidelines for virtual digital asset advertising.

    7. Prices and other market data

    Live and delayed prices come from third parties such as CoinGecko and Binance. We show that data as we receive it.

    Prices can be late, incomplete, or wrong. The Site does not promise that any figure is accurate or enough to trade on. Please do not make a money decision only because of a number on CoinTulip. If you do, that decision is yours.

    8. Third-party links

    The Site may link to other websites, including exchanges, wallets, research tools, and partner pages. We do not control those sites. We are not responsible for their content, safety, or privacy practices. A link is not a recommendation.

    9. Availability

    We try to keep the Site working, but we do not promise that it will always be up, error-free, or complete. We may change, pause, or take down parts of the Site when we need to.

    10. If something goes wrong

    To the extent Indian law allows, COINTULIP MEDIA PRIVATE LIMITED is not liable for loss of profit, loss of data, or other indirect or consequential loss that comes from using the Site or relying on something published here.

    This does not try to exclude anything Indian law says we cannot exclude — including liability for fraud or for harm that the law does not let a company write away.

    The Site and its content are provided as they are.

    11. If these Terms are broken

    If you use the Site in a way that breaks these Terms, we may limit or stop your access. We may also take any other step the law allows.

    12. Governing law

    These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law rules. If there is a dispute that has to go to court, it will be handled by the courts at [your city], India.

    13. Changes

    We may update these Terms from time to time. The new version will carry a new "Last updated" date on this page. If you keep using the Site after a change, that means you accept the updated Terms. Please look at this page now and then.

    14. General

    If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.

    15. Contact
